About David

Lyn and I returned home to Athens, Ga in January of 2020 to be close to our children and grandchildren. We had lived for the past several years in Hattiesburg, MS, but Athens has always been home. I served for approximately 10 years as an elder at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Athens when we lived here before, and while we still have many very close friends there, Good Shepherd is our current church home for several reasons.
In addition to being the church home for the families of our children, we were drawn to Good Shepherd because we wanted to be part of a church plant. We wanted to experience the joy of seeing what God can do when people come together for the purpose of sharing the exciting truth of the Gospel, and loving the community in which they are placed. Church plants have been shown to be the most effective way of reaching the unchurched, and it is exciting to be a part of that.
I love that we are in the community of Normaltown – such a wonderful neighborhood in the city of Athens. I am excited about the future, and the potential impact of this church as we seek to make known the love of Christ for His people. It is my great pleasure to serve the people of this church as a shepherding elder, in their desire to be a church for the city of Athens.
