About Ryan

Ryan serves as an Elder at Good Shepherd.

Where is your favorite place to eat in Athens? Athens has a lot of great places to eat. Hi-Lo Lounge takes the gold for me. It may not be glamorous in appearance, but the vibe provides the at-home feel that I like. You feel like a true ‘local’ as you munch on a hot-dog, fish n chips, or Reuben. Lots of great memories here.

What fills your days when you’re not serving at GS? A few more hours in the day would be nice! Mallory and I have three boys that keep us well occupied. They are a delightful, energetic bunch of joy. Most people may not know this about me but I am working towards my Masters of Divinity from RTS. Biblical Greek is currently occupying parts of my brain that have not been inhabited for a while! On top of that, I work full-time at Redeemer Presbyterian Church as the Building Supervisor. In the rare case of free-time, I will dust off the mountain bike or go camping.

What is your favorite thing about GS? The people. I love our Church community. It’s a diverse group of people who know each other and serve each other so well.

Favorite passage of scripture or catechism question or hymn:

Philippians 3:8-11. In my conversion, God peeled back the self-righteousness that had consumed my life. I thought I was good based on my own efforts. Come to find out, I was morally bankrupt. My eyes were opened to the righteousness found in Christ alone. By faith, I put my trust in Him and could exclaim like Paul, “I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.”
