OUR MISSION
The Spiritual Formation team exists to provide the men and women of Good Shepherd with biblical context, content, and habits that will encourage them to grow as followers of Christ who are rooted in the gospel, reflecting the Kingdom, and reaching our city.
DISCIPLESHIP GROUPS
Discipleship groups are small groups of either men or women that meet weekly to grow in the knowledge and delight of the Lord together as believers. Our goal is to create an environment that encourages the Christian toward the maturity, unity and love that Paul speaks of in Ephesians 4. Through Scripture reading, discussion, sharing and prayer, we’ll seek to know and trust Jesus in the ever-changing landscapes of our lives with the hope of bringing him glory in our church, homes, and communities.

Joshua Bloodworth
Spiritual Formation Team Co-Leader
Josh is a physical therapist who lives in Athens with his beautiful wife, Anna, and their first born, Lyon. He has a desire for the people of Good Shepherd to know and seek the Lord, and is excited to serve the men of the church through prayer, discipleship, and ministry to reach that end. Josh hopes to see the church seek the lost and serve the needy in and around the city of Athens.

Jen Bole
Spiritual Formation Team Leader
Jen never imagined she’d still be in Athens 30 years after graduating from UGA, but it turns out this college town is also a great place to marry and raise three sons! These years have been marked by homeschooling, adventures with her boys, and ministry to women & children in the local church. Ask Jen about her family’s favorite camping spot, the best tree to climb on campus, or trustworthy books & podcasts! She’d love to grab coffee with you!

Tim Hulsey
Spiritual Formation Team Member
Tim grew up in Atlanta and Norcross, Ga. He married his high school sweetheart Amy. Tim graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Marketing. Tim has spent his career as a small business owner, and working in John Deere dealerships. Amy and Tim have two daughters Hannah (35) and Caroline (33). Tim loves to learn about gardening and real estate. He also loves people, and getting to know their stories.

Elizabeth Perry
Spiritual Formation Team Member
Elizabeth Perry has been a member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church for the past five years and is thankful for the community and friendships she has found there. She teaches fifth grade and has a heart for serving children, especially those in underprivileged communities, believing every student deserves to be known, encouraged, and given opportunities to thrive. Outside of the classroom, Elizabeth enjoys lifting weights, taking long walks, and opening her home to family and friends. She is passionate about women’s ministry and loves creating spaces where women can build meaningful relationships, grow in their faith, and encourage one another as they follow Christ together.

Sam Potter
Spiritual Formation Team Member
Sam, along with his wife Olivia and kids Ezra and Jane, started attending Good Shepherd in 2023. He loves building all sorts of things. In his copious free time he enjoys exercising with weights and sometimes running, though not so much anymore (if you know, you know).

Kelsey Saville
Spiritual Formation Team Member
Kelsey moved to Athens in 2020 to pursue her undergraduate degree in social work at UGA and never imagined it would become home. She is thankful to have found a community at Good Shepherd, where she has grown in her faith while building a life with her husband, Logan, and their cat, Ridley. Kelsey has since returned to UGA to pursue her master’s degree in public administration and works as a wedding coordinator while enjoying her free time volunteering, visiting coffee shops, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Joe Rizner
Spiritual Formation Team Member
Joe attends Good Shepherd alongside his children, Eliza, Levi, Hazel and Sylvia, and wife, Morgan. They’ve been around since 2018 or so. When he isn’t working or changing diapers, you can find him reading fantasy, working out at the YMCA (a gem, not a gym), or playing board games with friends.
